GIRL POWER
​The Girl Power program, launched in 2024, brings together girls living with Type 1 Diabetes for quarterly events and activities. It’s designed to create connection & friendship through shared experiences. Girl Power events are led by teen volunteers living with Type 1 Diabetes and fully subsidized by Elbowbumpkid Inc. Parents are able to connect while the girls create lasting relationships.

December 2025
Winter Event
Our last Girl Power event of the year had a great turnout and fun was had by all. The girls had hot chocolate, played games and go to know each other while the parents connected and established relationships with others who live near them. The girls received blanket kits to make with their families over the holidays and T1D Barbies for those who didn’t have one. They already started planning the next event, so stay tuned! Special thanks to Becca, Amelie & Maren for planning and executing this fun free day for the girls!

Becca-vision boards and Mandala drawings
The next event in our girl power series was creating vision boards and mandala drawings. The girls made new connections with other T1D's and created memories with craft items provided by the Giraldo family and Elbowbumpkid Inc.

Our college student volunteer created friendship bracelets & low blood sugar kits with a group of tween girls.
August 2025
Summer Event
Our quarterly Girl Power event was an incredible way for the T1D girls to connect. They swam, had ice cream and snacks, played board games, and built low blood sugar kits.

Blanket Making Event
Girls aged 8-16 gathered for a special free event run by teen volunteer, Becca, to create blankets together while drinking hot chocolate and sharing stories.

T1D Tween & Teen Girls connected while creating pottery masterpieces, event sponsored by Elbowbumpkid Inc.
